Written by Buddy Holly and Bob Montgomery - Tommy Allsup played lead on the recording done in Clovis, New Mexico at Norman Petty Studios July-August 1958 with Buddy on rhythm. He did play this song on the final tour in 1959. Here we see a Crickets version live. Joe B. did do the original bass on the recording although he was eventually replaced by George Attwood.

Twenty Flight Rock" was recorded by Cochran in July 1956 at Goldstar Studio, with Connie Smith on the bull fiddle and Jerry Capehart thumping a soup carton. Written by Eddie Cochran and Ned Fairchild. Released in 1957 on Liberty records with "Somethin' Else" as the flip side. Buddy Holly Live! occaionally played songs by other artists. This was a spirited performance from 2005.

Rip it Up - Interpreted from a practice tape Buddy Holly recorded at Venture Studio (Lubbock, Texas) in late 1956 with Jerry Allison and Larry Welborn (uncertain) on bass. Composed by John Marascalco (Little Richard's chauffeur) and Otis Blackwell. This tune was also covered by Ritchie Valens, Elvis and many others as an early rockabilly standard.
This was recorded at the WeaveShed Performing Arts Centre in Cornwall, Ontario in October , 2002. Originally recorded in Norman Petty's Studios in Clovis, New Mexico from June 29th - July 1, 1957. Buddy, Jerry and Joe with background vocals by the Picks. This number was "in the can" before the release of That'll be the Day, showing how much of a hit maker Holly was in a very short time.
Hit version recorded on the road at Tinker Air Force base in Oklahoma City in September 1957. Peaked at Number 4 for 3 months. Released March 1958. Recorded with the Crickets when they were a quartet with Niki Sullivan on second lead as well as Buddy, Jerry Allison (JI) and Joe. B. Mauldin.
